A Structured Cabling System (SCS) is a systematic and categorized approach for designing and installing a building’s total telecommunication infrastructure, which ensures efficient, reliable, and scalable connectivity of data, voice, and video systems (such as safety alarms, security access, energy systems, etc.). Common components of a structured cabling system include entrance facilities, equipment rooms, backbone cabling, telecommunication rooms, horizontal cabling, and work areas. Different types of cabling are twisted pair, fiber-optic, and coaxial.
